Yet again, it's time to speak out for primates that are being sent to research facilities. Air Canada is one of the few companies who still ship monkeys from breeding farms to laboratories where medical research will be conducted upon them. The monkeys are kept in tiny boarding cages where they have virtually no room to move around — in some cases, for 15 hours or more. They are simply thrown into cargo areas that don't have the proper ventilation or space for them to even stand up.
These animals shouldn't have to endure such horrible conditions. Ask Air Canada to support animal welfare and to stop inhumanely transporting monkeys to research labs.
Dear Air Canada CEO Calin Rovinescu:
I am writing to ask that you stop shipping monkeys to medical research facilities on your airlines. I have learned that monkeys are being kept in tiny wooden crates on flights to research labs, sometimes without the chance to move around for 15 hours or more.
This is nothing less than animal cruelty. Even though the animals are destined for research — which is bad enough — there still isn't any reason to treat them with this kind of cruelty.
I hope your company won't continue to dismiss the safety of these innocent creatures. I expect you to do the right thing and put the well being of the monkeys first.
Sincerely,
