Fur clothing is outdated and obsolete. By now everyone is aware of the tragedies behind selling animal fur, and with viable fur alternatives available, there is simply no reason to continue hurting animals.
Many high-end clothing retailers have renounced the use of fur and stopped using it altogether, but BCBG is one that has yet to do so. BCBG continues to sell clothing made of rabbit fur.
BCBG signed a pledge in 2008 promising to cease its sales of rabbit fur, but its holiday 2011 collection reveals the company has defaulted on its promise.
Write to BCBG telling the company you boycott its products as long as it continues to put profit over animal welfare.
Dear BCBG CEO Max Azria,
I am extremely disappointed in your decision to resume selling products that hurt animals. In 2008 BCBG made a pledge to be fur-free, but it's clear you have reneged on this promise. Your holiday 2011 collection features pieces made of rabbit fur.
Bunnies raised for their fur are often kept in tiny cages with little to no room to move around, and then killed via inexpensive, inhumane methods. The rabbits that are used for clothing live sad, uncomfortable, and painful lives.
Profit and status recognition are not valid reasons to continue with this animal brutality. Get with the times, BCBG. Stop selling rabbit fur if you'd like to keep this customer.
