When Molly's family couldn't keep her, they were heartbroken. A divorce had left the mother and her children with no additional money to secure a rental that would accept pets for their eleven-year-old dog. And Molly, who is blind and diabetic, couldn't be easily placed with another family. Eventually Molly's owners contacted Home For Life, arranging for their pet to come live at the sanctuary.
Home For Life helps ease the pain for Molly's owners by keeping in touch via photos and emails. Executive Director Lisa LaVerdiere reports that the sanctuary is seeing more and more pets surrendered because families are losing their homes through foreclosure.
The "care for life" sanctuary in Star Prairie, Wisconsin, provides a forever home for elderly pets, disabled pets, and others that cannot be normally adopted. Many of the pets living at the sanctuary are certified for therapy visits, serving local hospices and seniors.
Home For Life is one of the many animal sanctuaries which receive grants from GreaterGood.org. These donations are supported by The Animal Rescue Site's Gifts That Give More program. To learn more, please click here.
