Breast cancer survivors celebrated in book about "Moments of Truth"

Patricia Bernhard is the director of the Henrietta Public Library. She is also a breast cancer survivor, according to a report from the Henrietta Post.

Bernhard will share her story of survival and strength in a new collection of writing by 19 different breast cancer survivors. The book is called "Moments of Truth, Gifts of Love: Women of Community and Spirit Journey through Breast Cancer."

Bernhard has words of wisdom for other women going through a similar process.

"Take back control of your life to whatever extent you can. That includes working with doctors and acknowledging the medical treatment you need, but in little ways, maintaining a grip on whatever you can in other aspects of your life,"Bernhard told the news source.

In the U.S., one in eight women is diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in her lifetime, according to the American Cancer Society.
