Bridal event benefits young women with breast cancer
Feb 1, 2012
The Wedding Dress Party benefits a great deal of women - brides-to-be, former brides and young brides who have breast cancer. The event is an auction in which former brides are able to sell their wedding dresses and those who are planning a wedding are able to get a fantastic gown with a great deal.
In addition, the former brides are also able to put their wedding gown on one more time and have everyone's attention. In many other cases, the bride never does put on her dress again - and this is for a good cause as well.
A percentage of the ticket proceeds from the event goes to the Young Survival Coalition, which helps young women who have breast cancer and are planning a wedding, along with breast cancer research in general.
According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related death among women, following only lung cancer. However, the death rate has been decreasing since 1990 due to advancements in research and breast cancer health news. There are currently 2.5 million survivors in the United States.
