Life often imitates art, but for Sally Whittaker, star of the British soap opera Coronation Street, this idea was a little too close for comfort.
The 46-year-old recently revealed that she is battling breast cancer, much like her onscreen character on the popular series, Sally Webster.
"If I had not been researching this storyline, I may not have discovered the lump in my breast and had it looked at so quickly," she told Hello! Magazine
On the soap opera, Webster undergoes a successful lumpectomy. However, Whittaker is still battling the disease and is going through treatment.
The actress, who is a mom to three children, admits she has had her moments of self-pity. Still, the beautiful starlet maintains that her kids are her top priority.
"Every time the children come in and say, 'Oh Mum, why haven't we got any chocolate biscuits?' it snaps me back into mum mode and takes my mind off it," she told the news source.
According to CancerResearchUK.org, breast cancer is the most common form of the disease that is diagnosed in the United Kingdom.
