LPGA golfer raises $500,000 for breast cancer research

LPGA golfer Morgan Pressel has hosted her fourth annual Morgan & Friends golf tournament for breast cancer research to honor her mother who passed away from breast cancer in 2003. The event raised an astonishing $500,000 for breast cancer charity according to WaggleRoom.com.

Pressel enlisted the help of professional golfers Rickie Fowler, Paula Creamer and Angela Stanford. Pressell has donated the money raised at the events to the Boca Raton (FL) Community Hospital which has purchased the Kathryn Krickstein Pressell Mammovan. The van, named after Pressel's mother, travels the region spreading breast cancer awareness and finding affordable options for women who need breast cancer screenings.

"Collectively in 4 years the event has raised 1.7 million," Paula Creamer posted on her Twitter feed. "So happy to be apart of it."

Morgan Pressel will continue to host the yearly tournament at St. Andrews Country Club in Boca Raton, FL and raise more money in the memory of her mother.

According to BreastCancer.org, there are over 2.5 million breast cancer survivors living in the United States.
