New Breast Cancer Center at Jordan Valley Medical

A new Breast Cancer Center is being established at the Jordan Valley Medical Center, dedicated to advancing treatment and health care for patients of breast cancer.

Breast cancer is the second most common type of cancer for women in the U.S., after skin cancer. Men are also susceptible to the disease.

"By providing a comprehensive breast care center in a single location, we can provide ease of treatment and peace of mind to patients who are facing a maze of outpatient medical services," Bryanie Swilley, CEO of Jordan Valley Medical Center, told the news source.

Breast cancer has a higher death rate in American women than any other cancer, aside from lung cancer. However, as of 2010, more than 2.5 million people in the U.S. consider themselves breast cancer survivors. About 200,000 women are newly diagnosed with the illness each year, leading the American Cancer Society to recommend that all women over the age of 40 receive yearly mammograms.
