GreaterGood.org announced today that more than $11,000 has been awarded to Ozarks Food Harvest to help fund emergency and recovery response in areas most affected by tornadoes in Joplin, Missouri.
This grant was made possible by donations to the Gift That Give More ™ Deadly U.S. Tornadoes & Flooding - Help Now featured at The Hunger Site and other GreaterGood Network websites. Previous grants funded by this Gift were awarded in May were given to food banks operating in Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
Ozarks Food Harvest has been working with the American Red Cross, SEMA, and FEMA organizations to assist the victims of the tornado. Along with their regular pantries and congregate feeding centers, Ozarks Food Harvest is helping to stock the Emergency Relief Stations located close to the hardest hit areas to provide necessary supplies to those who lack transportation.
Starting June 1, the group will begin servicing the area with their Mobile Food Pantry trucks (shown below) as well.
