Tennessee Medical Center creates new Breast Cancer Center

The Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville, Tennessee, recently announced that they will be combining medical imaging technology and diagnostic procedures all in one place - a new breast cancer center, according to the Crossville Chronicle.

Previously, those who were getting screenings and tests for breast cancer had to go to completely separate areas in the center, which was incovenient and caused problems - people missed appointments or had a tough time moving from one are to the next, according to the news provider.

"It's wonderful to have the support of the administration to raise the bar for technology available here," Babs Sanders, director of medical imaging, told the news source. "It is a significant financial commitment but is such a benefit for patients."

According to Susan G. Komen Foundation, it is recommended that once a woman turns 40 she should schedule annual mammograms. In addition, if a woman has an extensive family history of breast cancer, she may want to start making these appointments earlier, as this is known to be a risk factor of the disease.
