Colleges and universities are places where sexual violence can be quite common. In fact, at least one in four women will be a victim of some type of sexual assault in her college career.

One in four is an unacceptable number. That's why New York Representative Carolyn Maloney introduced the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination (SaVE) Act (H.R. 2016), The SaVE Act would tackle issues like sexual violence, domestic violence, and stalking by providing education on prevention, improving campus safety through law enforcement, and requiring that all instances of sexual violence are reported and accounted for.

We need to provide women with more comprehensive protection on college campuses where sexual violence is rampant. Urge President Obama to sign off on the SaVE Act.

Dear President Obama,

College campuses are often breeding grounds for sexual and domestic violence. Did you know that close to 95% of sexual violence crimes go unreported? Or that 20%-25% of women will be raped during her college career?

These statistics are extremely frightening. Colleges should be communities of education, enrichment, and personal development — not places where people have to worry about sexual violence. There is simply no way an individual can receive an adequate education if he or she must always live in fear.

The Campus Sexual Violence Elimination (SaVE) Act (H.R. 2016) would provide more resources to college campuses to combat the problem of sexual violence by creating prevention programs, encouraging victims to report crimes, and by using law enforcement to more closely monitor campus safety.

Please promote college campus safety by endorsing the SaVE Act!

Thank you.
