Women and girls in Haiti have faced extreme violence in the wake of the earthquake that ravaged the country in 2010. Temporary camps have been set up for people to take refuge, but these tented structures provide no protection from the evils outside. Girls have been bound, beaten, and raped.

A crippled labor and police force in the earthquake's aftermath means the women aren't protected and most of the criminals will never be caught. These women must live in fear every day.

Sign the petition below asking Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to continue to be the voice for Haitian women by doing all that is possible to keep them safe.

Dear Secretary Clinton,

I know that you've consistently been an advocate for women's empowerment. That's why I'm writing to you today to ask for help on an important situation occurring in Haiti.

Women in Haiti today live in uncertainty and fear. The 2010 earthquake weakened the labor force and, consequently, the police system — women are experiencing rapes and beatings, and worse, the perpetrators are still walking free.

Women should never have to be afraid to leave their homes in fear of being assaulted. Please continue your efforts to help these Haitian women and stop the violence.

Thank you for your time.
