Goal: 15,000 Progress: 1,275
Sponsored by: The Breast Cancer Site

Too often, partisan politics get in the way of what's really important. That's what happened when Susan G. Komen, the most widely-known breast cancer organization in the US, decided to stop funding Planned Parenthood's breast cancer screening and other breast health services.

While Komen reversed its decision, it's clear that politics keeps interfering with programs to give all women, regardless of economic status, one simple procedure: mammograms. Breast cancer awareness programs should not be about politics, they should be about saving lives.

Conservative or liberal, nobody needs to take a political side in order to promote women's health. Breast cancer shouldn't be about politics; it should be about saving lives.

Call on Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to use her influence and positions to emphasize that all the groups working to help prevent breast cancer should start putting people over politics!

Dear Kathleen Sebelius:

As America's Health and Human Services Secretary, you have the responsibility to act in favor of what's best for the health of the American people. That's why I'm writing to you today — to ask that you lend your voice to a critical issue concerning women's health.

Women's health is more important than politics. I hope you will take this opportunity to put politics aside and denounce any decision that puts partisan interests over the health of our women.

Thank you for your time.
