late August of 2010, I was preparing to fly with my husband to his new post in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. I was completing my physical and my Mammogram was the final test I had to take, ..done I thought! alas the clinic called me back to take an Ultra sound they had noticed a shadow on my left breast. Waiting with my Youngest daughter Vanessa to hear the result we receved the news that YES I had Cancer in my left breast. We cried and then the reality was to contact an Oncologist & Breast surgeon to find out my options as soon as possible ...I had 3 options. The decision was made with my husband and my 3 wonderful daughter's. So with my two youngest daughter;s being a tower of love and strengh by my side through it all. My oldest daughter had such a difficult time digesting the reality of it. I shall never forget her words "Mum I cannot fix this for you!"

but on the day of my 6 hour surgery Samantha, Tiffany and Vanessa were with me every step of the way! we had much love and laughter in the room

My sense of humour was shining through. That was September 24th 2010. I was declared "cancer free" on the 5th of November, ready to travel to Tanzania with my husband as I promised! I cannot ever thank my daughter's enough for their love and devotion and for their dedication to Mum.......Life for all of us is truly Blessed and wonderful! and yes we are still in Tanzania! Ladies never miss your MAMMOGRAMS.....
