The Head Start Program is a resource for low-income families that provides educational and health assistance. Head Start's aim is to prepare children for the academic system and to promote positive growth through guidance in areas like general health, education, and constructive social development.

Research strongly suggests that low-income children who participate in Head Start are more likely to graduate from high school than those who do not. But the House of Representatives is threatening to cut funding to educational programs like Head Start.

Despite this compelling evidence, the cuts still loom. We simply cannot afford to cut funding in areas like education. The money we spend in this area will no doubt return on the investment ten-fold. Don't let Congress take the chance for a better education and life away from our children. Let them know you oppose the education cuts!

Dear Congress:

I am astounded at the proposal to cut finding to education, notably to the Head Start program.

Head Start provides critical assistance to low-income families in helping them prepare their children for the school system. It offers educational resources, nutrition counseling, and help with social development. Many families lack the knowledge and ability to provide these necessary tools to their children, and that's why Head Start is so vital in helping children grow into productive and effective citizens. If we remove Head Start, these families won't have anywhere to turn.

Budget cuts are essential; we all know that. But it's inexcusable to cut funding to education and it's simply backward progress. If we don't invest in our children, we have no hope of a brighter future. Cutting education dollars is counterintuitive to what Congress is trying to accomplish by cutting them in the first place.

Do the right thing. Don't kill our children's futures.

Sincerely,

Apr 16, 2013 (Name not displayed) I find it hard to believe that President or Mrs. Obama would support cutting the Head Start program. I hope and pray this doesn't happen. Billions are sent to other countries, when the help is needed at home.
