Last year, President Barack Obama promised to support a UN initiative to cut down the world's poverty by fifty percent. The Millennium Development Goals, or MDGs, were outlined as eight different goals, that, if reached, would help eliminate half of world poverty. Some of these included creating employment, fighting disease, and tackling hunger.

If the MDGs are to be reached by the intended target of 2015, President Obama must act now. Millions of people living in poverty are counting on the UN to succeed in reaching these goals. We can't afford to wait any longer to give the people of the world the resources and assistance they need to live long, healthy, and happy lives.
