Since the dawn of time, women have been fighting an uphill battle to receive equal rights. They have come a long way, but fair wages are just one issue that leaves a solution to be desired. On average, women make about 80 percent of what men make.
Much has been done to combat this persistent issue, but even now when women are serving as powerful political leaders and CEOs, they are still making less money than their male counterparts. That's why we need comprehensive legislation that would promote wage equality by giving companies incentives to hire women and closing existing loopholes.

Dear Congress,
I urge you to support the Paycheck Fairness Act, a piece of legislation that would help close the wage gap between men and women.
The fact is, even after all of the steps women have made toward equality, they still make about 80 cents to the dollar compared to what men make. With women at the helm of power at companies and in America's political system, there is simply no reason for this disparity.
We need to pass legislation that would give employers incentives to hire women and to pay them the same as their male counterparts. The simply should not be working the same jobs for less money.
I am writing to ask that you lend your support to the Paycheck Fairness Act when it comes time to vote.
Thank you.
