It's not easy to be a student in college these days. Rising costs coupled with fierce admissions competition can easily scare otherwise competent prospective students away. But if an individual is determined enough to go to college, he shouldn't have to face unfair costs.
Sallie Mae, one of the nation's largest student loan corporations, not only charges students interest on their loans once they graduate, but they also charge fees for delays of payments due to unemployment. This means that Sallie Mae is cashing in on recent graduates' misfortune not once, but twice.
We all know that a college degree doesn't guarantee anything nowadays. When a recent graduate has a hard time finding work, he shouldn't have to pay twice for factors he cannot control.
Write to Sallie Mae expressing your anger that it is preying on bright, innocent young people who are simply trying to better their lives!
Dear Sallie Mae executives:
I'm sure you can think back to when you were in college and remember some of its challenges. Let's face it, college isn't easy for anyone.
But things are different these days — there's fiercer competition, less room, rising costs, and more stringent requirements. Because of these factors, paying for college isn't as easy as it used to be. Many students end up having to take out extensive loans, and many of these same students find themselves even worse off after graduation.
Sallie Mae is just one student loan firm that is blatantly taking money out of graduates' pockets. It not only charges interest on the loans following graduation, but if a graduate isn't able to find employment and therefore must default on his payments for a while, Sallie Mae charges fees for that as well.
This means that college students — those who have fought hard for their own education — are paying for their misfortune twice.
How have we come to be a society that punishes its students simply for bettering their own futures?
You can help struggling graduates out by stopping the greed. and stop charging our young visionaries for their own success!
