The Clean Air Act is at risk again, this time by a dangerous piece of potential legislation that, if passed, would undermine many of the Clean Air Act's environment-saving stipulations.
The Gasoline Regulations Act, or the GASP (gutting air standards protections) Act as labeled by the American Lung Association, is in essence a way to undermine the Clean Air Act by touting it as a bill aimed at regulating increasing gas prices. But what the GASP Act will really do, among other things, is remove the public's right to know about dangerous ozone levels and allow special interests, rather than doctors and scientists, to regulate clean air standards.
Help stop yet another attack on our clean air from special interest groups only interested in profit!
Dear legislator:
I strongly urge you to oppose the Gasoline Regulations Act (H.R. 4471) once it comes to vote. This piece of legislation is shrouded in deceit, as it uses gas price regulation as a platform to enact other environmentally-harmful initiatives.
In fact, this bill will do nothing to decrease or regulate rising oil prices. What it will do is gut the Clean Air act by allowing these special interests, rather than scientists, to regulate air quality. It will also remove the public's right to know about harmful ozone levels.
Ultimately, H.R. 4471 will only serve to further pollute our air and environment. I am asking that when this bill is up for voting, you put the health of our children, elderly, and ecosystem above special interests who have no qualms about damaging our environment.
Thank you.
