Goal: 20,000 Progress: 5,685
Sponsored by: The Rainforest Site

Speaker of the House John Boehner has decided to de-green Congress. He's taken away all of the biodegradable dish and diningware from Capitol building cafeterias, and reinstated the use of Styrofoam cups. He's essentially reversed all of the work that former Speaker Nancy Pelosi did to transform the Capitol into a sustainable building.

This action was the opposite of progress. Few disagree about the existence of global warming and climate change, and John Boehner's blatant disregard of it shows he is either disregarding scientific facts, or worse, not paying attention.

It's appalling that someone in such a position as Speaker of the House would act so irresponsibly. Sign the petition demanding that John Boehner educate himself on the reality of global warming and to stop leading America backwards.

Dear John Boehner:

With all of the evidence available today that supports the idea of global warming, coupled with the fact that the majority of your constituents believe climate change is a reality, it's simply absurd that you have done away with biodegradable utensils and diningware and replaced them with their carbon-producing plastic alternatives.

This action was highly irresponsible and frankly, unnecessary. There was no reason for the switch but simply to spite the democrats who instated it to begin with.

Not only did you take Congress backward, you bragged about bringing back the plasticware. I don't appreciate your disregard for our environment or your nonchalance about it.

Please bring back the biodegradable utensils — if not for you constituents, do it for the good of the earth.

Sincerely,

Petition Signatures
