Climate change and human interference are causing major obstacles for migrating birds. Climatic changes have several effects on migrations, including breeding and decreases in population. Human activity also affects migrations. Because birds fly lengthy distances during a migration, they come into contact with many different types of human civilization, which can have profound ramifications for the continuation of the species.

The Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act is a program that provides grants to both public and private organizations whose mission is to preserve migratory birds and their habitats. The program aims to both preserve as well as bolster migratory bird populations around the world.

This legislation still needs support and funding if it is to succeed in solidifying lasting bird populations. Sign your name in support of the Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act!

Dear US Fish and Wildlife Service Director Rowan Gould:

I am writing to support your sponsorship of the Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act, which aims to promote the conservation and perpetuation of species of migratory birds.

There are several factors that interfere with birds' migration — the most compelling of which are perhaps human activity and climate change. Because migratory birds often pass through various countries, they encounter all types of human civilization. The problem here is that all countries differ in the ways they view and treat animals.

Climate change also affects migrations, as it can confuse birds with regards to timing of the migration. Timing of the migrations pertains directly to breeding times and patterns, so if the timing of a migration is off, breeding for that year may not happen as it should.

Please continue to work toward restoring and preserving our migratory birds!

Thank you for your time.
