The oil industry is at it again. This time, it's ConocoPhillips and Exxon Mobil that is posing a serious threat to the environment. The oil firms are going through with a dangerous fossil fuel project in an area called the Alberta Tar Sands located in the Rocky Mountains. Not only is tar sand some of the dirtiest oil, but the full semi truck loads the companies are bringing into the area are damaging the surrounding ecosystem. The megaloads are upsetting the people who live there as well as the safety of the environment.
The current and potential dangers this project presents are too grave to put the environment at risk. Too often, we allow these oil giants to wreak havoc on our natural surroundings. We must take a stand and work to prevent future disasters.
Write to the Department of Transportation asking that they side with the environment and tell ConocoPhillips and Exxon to find another route.
To whom it may concern at the Department of Transportation: Oil companies ConocoPhillips and Exxon Mobil are embarking upon a project that could potentially have disastrous results for the environment surrounding the Alberta Tar Sands. ConocoPhillips and Exxon are bringing in machinery to manufacture fossil fuels on trucks, called megaloads, that are already having a serious impact on the towns in the northern Rockies.
Not only are the megaloads becoming a menace to the towns, they are also damaging the natural environment. Considering the often icy conditions in the northern Rockies, these trucks are also a grave safety hazard.
Please re-route these megaloads or force them to find more sustainable ways to conduct business.
Thank you.
