General Mills is brazenly increasing its own carbon footprint by using palm oil in its products. The company's harvesting techniques cause rainforest destruction, emission of harmful gases, and habitat annihilation for many endangered species. Palm oil production also dangerously contributes to global warming.
Large corporations can have a lasting effect on the environment for good or ill. Sign the petition below telling Kendall Powell, CEO of General Mills, to put an end to his company's excessive use of palm oil and abusive harvesting techniques.
Dear Mr. Powell,
Your company's use of palm oil is greatly contributing to global warming and the destruction of our planet's natural resources. By choosing to use palm oil in many of your food products, you are enacting a legacy of deforestation, extinction, and climate change.
Massive areas of the rainforest must be cleared in order to accommodate palm tree plantations. This means that in the process of making room for the palms, native trees are cut down, animals are forced out of their habitats, and damaging gases are released into the atmosphere. The kind of industrial development you're conducting is putting the people and animals of the rainforest in grave danger, and negatively affecting the world's climate.
Our planet relies on corporations like General Mills to act responsibly when it comes to human rights and the environment. Everyone is paying the price for your company's actions at home and abroad. Please commit to providing your consumers with more sustainable, earth-friendly products.
Thank you for your time.
