Cape Hatteras is a majestic part of America's eastern coastline, offering gorgeous beaches and endless beauty. It serves as one of the Southeast's prime vacation spots, where people can get away from the routine of daily life. But it's precisely human activity that's adversely affecting the natural ecosystems present at Cape Hatteras.

Each year a new life cycle begins for five species of sea turtles on the shores of Cape Hatteras, but because of the human interference caused by frequent vacationers and tourists, these turtles are in serious danger.

Off Road Vehicles (ORVs) cause some of the most worrisome damage to the sea turtles habitat as they drive through the beaches where the turtles hatch and find their way back to the sea.

The Preserving Public Access to Cape Hatteras Beaches Act (S. 2372) would undermine a plan to limit the use of ORVs in the area. Sign your name to overturn this dangerous bill before it reaches committee!

Dear National Park Service,

I am writing in hopes that your influence will help squash a dangerous bill that's currently headed to committee for decisions.

The Preserving Public Access to Cape Hatteras Beaches Act (S. 2372) would undermine a plan set by the NPS to limit the use of off road vehicles (ORVs) on Cape Hatteras beaches. As you know, Cape Hatteras is home to five species of sea turtles that make their nests and hatch before finding their way back to the ocean. The ORVs often run over these turtle nests or vulnerable baby turtles that have just hatched.

Though Cape Hatteras is a popular tourist spot, we still need to find a way so that humans and animals can coexist peacefully there. As long as human interference is killing off already endangered species, there can be no coexistence.

I hope you will do all you can to protect these sea turtles and stop the passage of S. 2372.

Thank you for your time and commitment.
