Some of America's most dedicated soldiers come in the form of canines. Dogs provide the military with special skill sets that humans don't possess. They are faster than humans, they can see more easily in darkness, they're more agile and able to explore hard-to-reach areas, and their senses are extremely honed. Many of them give their lives in the name of protecting their squadrons.
So why is it that, upon completion of service, military dogs aren't given the same treatment as their human counterparts? These dogs' health and well being should be of paramount importance to the Department of Veterans' Affairs, both during service and throughout the animals' retirement.
The Canine Members of the Armed Forces Act would mandate that military dogs receive lifelong care and treatment following service. Sign your name in support of this important legislation today.
Dear Representative Walter James,
Thank you for recognizing the immense contributions of military dogs to America's armed forces. Your bill, the Canine Members of the Armed Forces Act, will go a long way to ensuring all former soldier dogs will be taken care of following their years of dedicated service.
The fact is dogs can accomplish tasks that no human could ever have the ability to. Their keen sense of smell, their physical makeup, and their fearless attitudes make them highly valuable to the military.
America's human veterans receive lifelong care after completion of service, and there is no reason we can't do the same for our furry friends who have defended our country.
Please continue to work toward the passage of this important legislation!
Thank you!
