Goal: 15,000 Progress: 2,850

Veterans already have a hard enough time receiving quality health care without the threat of further cuts to these important programs. But President Obama's 2013 budget proposal does just that — it requests to cut parts of a military health insurance policy for veterans called TRICARE.

The cuts would mean more co-pays for veterans, enrollment fee increases, and additional annual enrollment fees. The Obama administration wants to implement these cuts to help balance the country's debt, but in essence, what they are doing is placing the burden on those who need and deserve help the most.

Our veterans shouldn't be responsible for shouldering America's ballooning debt — especially since much of that debt can be attributed to the war in which many of these service members fought.

Tell President Obama that when it comes to reducing the nation's debt, leave veteran care off the table!

Dear President Obama,

As you have repeatedly stated, taking care of America's veterans after they return from service is a top priority. Our service members have given of themselves to protect our country, and when they retire it's our job to make sure they receive the care they need.

That's why I am confused as to why you would allow veteran health care to go up on the chopping block when it comes to reducing the nation's debt.

Your 2013 budget proposal includes stipulations that would cut certain parts of TRICARE, the military health insurance policy. For one, co-pays would increase. Enrollment fees would also rise and could be required annually.

I understand the need to reduce debt; but I cannot stand by while you cut down veteran care.

Please recognize the sacrifices our service members have made and leave their health care off the table for discussion.

Thank you.
