As America's veterans return home from the battlefield, one of the most important things we can do to help them back into society is make sure they will be able to find employment.
The Veterans' Opportunity to Work (VOW) Act would help toward putting more than 400,000 veterans back to work within the next two years by: improving programs to help outgoing service members adjust to post-service; help veterans translate skills learned in service to employment; and create a job training program for unemployed veterans.
The VOW Act recently passed in the House and is one step closer to becoming law.
Urge President Obama to sign the Vow Act to help America's veterans find work!
Dear President Obama,
As you know, unemployment within the veteran community here in America is at an all-time high. And with our soldiers in Iraq returning home, the demand for jobs among this group is going to increase exponentially. That's why we need legislation that will establish resources and programs veterans can turn to to get the help they need when they come home.
Service members do jobs that most other people wouldn't be willing to take on. So it's only right that when veterans are finished with their service, we provide them with the best opportunities and assistance possible to adjust to post-military life.
The VOW Act would create programs that would help veterans translate their skills to employment, train them for specific trades, and help them assimilate back into society.
I am writing to ask that when the VOW Act reaches your desk, please sign in the name of America's dedicated service members!
Sincerely,
