When soldiers return from service, they should know they have secure futures and the assistance they will need in order to live fulfilling, successful lives. This includes options like job training, psychological counseling, and lifetime access to VA programs. But what about one of the most elementary desires — that of wanting to start a family?
Starting one's own family can lead to a lifetime of happiness, but increasingly soldiers are coming home finding themselves unable to reproduce due to battlefield injuries. Currently, the VA does not cover specialized treatments like IVF to help veterans start their families.
The Women Veterans and Other Health Care Improvements Act, introduced by Senator Patty Murray, Chairman of the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee, would help veterans receive specialized care so that they may be able to conceive.

I am writing in support of the Women Veterans and Other Health Care Improvements Act, your recently introduced piece of legislation that would help returning veterans receive reproductive health care.
America's veterans come home with all kinds of dreams, from starting their own businesses to going back to school. Perhaps one of the most important of these goals is the ability to start a family.
The Women Veterans and Other Health Care Improvements Act would ensure veterans and their spouse receive the specialized reproductive care they need in order to have the best chances of having children.
It's our job to help former soldiers realize their dreams when they return from service. Thank you for your continued commitment to this cause.
